National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national level medical entrance exam for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Government and private medical colleges as well as in deemed universities. NEET has brought all the colleges under the purview of one single exam which was not the case earlier. Each state used to have their own medical entrance exam. With NEET, the number of seats, as well as the competition, has increased. Currently, there are almost 95,000 seats for MBBS and BDS courses under NEET.

NEET is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The entire syllabus of NEET is covered by NCERT standard books of Class 11 and Class 12. However, reading just the NCERT books is not enough to crack this exam and ensure a seat in one of the medical colleges. With the increase in the number of students appearing for the exam, it has become highly competitive. The only way to guarantee a seat in your dream college is to secure as high a score as possible. In order to do that, you must have in-depth and detailed knowledge of all the concepts in the syllabus.

NCERT books are a must to clear the basics. At the same time, the concepts in NCERT books are too concise and less. Cracking the NEET needs more than just knowing the concepts. It needs one to have a proper understanding of the application of the concepts. Once you have finished the NCERT books (both theory and practice), you need to refer to some of the standard and more advanced books in order to ace this exam.

The following are some of the best books for NEET preparation as recommended by scholars and academicians with years of experience:

  1. Concepts of Physics by HC Verma
